Description
The ECM (electrochromic inside rear view mirror) automatically darkens to protect the driver's eyes when it detects reflected light coming from the vehicle behind. A sensor in the mirror measures brightness, and if the lights of a vehicle behind are reflected in the rear view mirror, the chemical layer inside the mirror reacts and adjusts the reflectance from 10 to 70%. When reverse gear is engaged, the mirror clears regardless of surroundings. The ECM receives power, ground and signals. When driving in reverse, it uses two sensors to measure glare intensity.- The downward-facing sensor determines whether the surrounding area is dark enough to activate the function.
- The downward-facing glare sensor detects glare on the rear view mirror. When glare is detected, the sensor sends a signal to darken the mirror.
- The ECM darkens until it reaches the level determined by the sensor. When glare is no longer detected, the mirror stops operating. (1. LED indicator, 2. ON/OFF switch, 3. Rear view sensor, 4. Front view sensor)

Auto headlight function
To protect your vision when driving at night, the rearview mirror automatically switches to the dimmed position when glare from vehicles behind you is detected. The auto-dimming function can be controlled with the headlight ON/OFF button:- Press and hold the function control button for more than 3 seconds but less than 6 seconds. The auto headlight function is turned off and the green status LED turns off.
- Press and hold the function control button again for more than 3 seconds but less than 6 seconds. The auto headlight function is turned on and the green status LED turns on.
