Break-in Procedure
No special requirements apply during the break-in period of a new vehicle. Observing several simple precautions during the first 1,000 km (600 miles) of driving can positively affect the performance, economy and service life of the vehicle.
• Do not run the engine at very high speeds.
• While driving, keep the engine speed (rpm or revolutions per minute) between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm.
• Do not maintain one constant speed (either high or low) for a long time. Varying the engine speed is necessary for proper break-in.
• Avoid sudden braking (except in emergencies) to ensure proper bedding of the brake pads.
• Do not let the engine idle for more than 3 minutes at a time.
• Do not tow a trailer during the first 2,000 km (1,200 miles) of vehicle operation.
