Active ECO System

~1min read

Active ECO Mode

Active ECO helps improve fuel efficiency by controlling the engine and transmission. Fuel economy depends on the driver's driving style and road conditions.

  • When the Active ECO button is pressed, the ECO indicator (green) illuminates to show that Active ECO is operating.
  • Once Active ECO is activated, it remains on even if the engine is restarted. To turn off the system, press the Active ECO button again.
  • If Active ECO is turned off, the system returns to normal mode.

When Active ECO is activated:

  • The engine sound may change.
  • Vehicle speed may decrease slightly.
  • This may affect air conditioning operation.

✽ NOTICE

The Active ECO system is designed for light or moderate throttle driving. It controls the engine and transmission to optimize fuel economy. A driver with an aggressive throttle driving style may find engine performance in Active ECO mode unsatisfactory and may not achieve any fuel economy benefit. In the case of such aggressive driving, it is better to turn off Active ECO for better fuel economy. For best results, compare the performance of both modes to determine which is more efficient for your driving style.

Active ECO Mode Limitations

If the following conditions occur while Active ECO is operating, the effectiveness of Active ECO mode may be limited, even if the indicator remains on.

  • Low engine coolant temperature: System operation will be limited until the engine temperature returns to normal.
  • When driving uphill:
  • The system will limit power build-up when driving uphill because the engine requires torque.
  • When using Sport mode: The system will be limited according to the shift request.
