Removal

  1. Remove the following items:
    A. Subframe Assembly (Refer to Suspension System - "Subframe")
    B. Drive Shaft Assembly (Refer to Drive Shaft and Axle - "Front Propeller Shaft")
  2. Remove the propeller shaft (A).

    Tightening torque: 49.0~69 N·m

  3. Loosen the upper and lower transfer case mounting bolts. (Transfer case side > transmission side)
  4. Loosen the lower transfer mounting bolt. (Transaxle side > Transfer side)

Installation

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    1. Be careful not to damage the O-ring (A). If the O-ring is damaged, replace it with a new one.
    2. Apply high-pressure molybdenum grease to the splines (B) and coat them.

      TECHLUBE MEGAMAX - ALPHA OR EQUIVALENT

    3. Install the propeller shaft so that the balance marks (transfer assembly 1 pc, propeller shaft 1 pc) are aligned with each other.
