Seat Belt Precautions

Always wear your seat belt and make sure all passengers wear their seat belts before starting any trip. Airbags are designed to supplement seat belts as an additional safety device, not to replace them. In most states, all vehicle occupants are required to wear seat belts.

WARNING

Seat belts must be used by ALL occupants when the vehicle is moving. To avoid serious injury or death:

• Children under 13 years old must be properly secured in the rear seats.
• Never allow children to ride in the front passenger seat. If a child 13 years or older must sit in the front passenger seat, move the seat as far back as possible and properly secure them in the seat.
• Never allow an infant or child to be held on a passenger's lap.
• Never ride with the seatback reclined when the vehicle is moving.
• Do not allow children to sit in a position where the shoulder belt or lap belt does not fit properly.
• Do not wear the shoulder belt under the arm or behind the back.
• Do not use a seat belt if it is twisted. A twisted seat belt may not protect you properly in a collision.
• Do not use a seat belt if the webbing or hardware is damaged. Have the seat belt replaced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
• Do not insert the seat belt buckle into buckles intended for other seat positions.
• Never unbuckle the seat belt while driving. This may result in loss of vehicle control, leading to a collision.
• Make sure that no object is in the buckle that could prevent the seat belt latch mechanism from securely latching.
• Never modify the seat belt or install devices that could prevent the seat belt assembly from removing slack.

WARNING

Seat belts and seat belt assemblies that are damaged or not functioning properly must always be replaced:

• Webbing that is worn, dirty, or damaged.
• Damaged hardware.
• The entire seat belt assembly should be replaced after it has been involved in an accident, even if the webbing or assembly damage is not obvious.
