Before Troubleshooting
- Check the related fuses in the applicable fuse/relay box.
- Using a battery tester (MCR-570 KIT), check the battery for damage, state of charge, and clean and tight connections. (Refer to Engine Electrical System - Battery)
- Check the tension of the generator belt.
- Make sure the connectors are clean and there are no loose wire terminals.
- Make sure multi-cavity connectors are filled with grease (except waterproof connectors).
- All connectors have push-type locks (A).

- Some connectors have a clip on the side used to secure them to the mounting bracket on the body or other component. This clip has a tension-type lock.
- Some mounted connectors cannot be disconnected until you release the lock and remove the connector from the mounting bracket (A).

- Never try to disconnect connectors by pulling on their wires; instead, pull on the connector halves.
- Always reinstall plastic covers.

- Before connecting connectors, make sure the terminals (A) are in place and not bent.

- Check that the lock (A) and rubber seals (B) are not loose.

- The rear of some connectors is filled with grease. Add grease if necessary. If the grease (A) is contaminated, replace it.

- Insert the connector fully and make sure it is securely locked.
- Route the wires so that the open end of the cover faces downward.

- Secure the wires and harnesses to the frame with wire ties at the designated locations.
- Carefully remove the clips; do not damage their locks (A).

- Insert pliers (A) under the base of the clip and through the hole at an angle, then squeeze the expansion tabs to release the clip.

- After installing the seat belt clips, make sure the seat belt does not interfere with any moving parts.
- Keep the wire harnesses away from exhaust pipes and other hot parts, sharp edges of brackets and holes, and exposed screws and bolts.
- Install the grommets correctly into the grooves (A). Do not leave the grommets distorted (B).

- Do not use wires or harnesses with damaged insulation. Replace them or repair them by wrapping the damaged area with electrical tape.
- After installing the parts, make sure the wires are not pinched.
- When using electrical test equipment, follow the instructions of the manufacturer and those described in this manual.
- If possible, insert the removal tool from the wire side (except for the waterproof connector).

- Use a probe with a tapered tip. Refer to the Wiring Repair Manual (Publication No. TRK 015).

- Verify the Customer Complaint
Operate all components in the problem circuit to verify the customer complaint. Note the symptoms. Do not begin disassembly or testing until you have narrowed down the problem area. - Circuit Analysis: Find the schematic of the problem circuit. Determine how the circuit should operate by tracing the current path from the power source through the circuit components to ground. If several circuits fail at the same time, the cause is likely a fuse or a ground. Based on the symptoms and your understanding of circuit operation, identify one or more possible causes of the problem.
- Isolate the Problem
Check the circuit to isolate the problem. Perform circuit tests to verify the diagnosis made in Step 2. Keep in mind that a logical and simple procedure is the key to effective troubleshooting. Check the most likely cause of failure first. Try to perform tests at easily accessible locations. - Repair the Problem
Once the specific problem is identified, perform the repair. Make sure to use proper tools and safe procedures. - Verify the Circuit Operation
Operate all components in the repaired circuit in all modes to make sure you have eliminated the entire problem. If the problem was a blown fuse, be sure to check all circuits on the fuse. Make sure no new problems appear and the original problem does not recur.
Description
When reconnecting the battery cable after disconnecting, recharging a discharged battery, or installing the memory fuse located on the driver side panel after removal, be sure to reset the systems listed in the table below. Also, when replacing or reinstalling their fuses after removal, they must be reset according to the table below. Refer to the table below when servicing.| System | Reset |
| Power Up/Down Window |
Whenever the battery is disconnected, discharged, or the related fuse is replaced or reinstalled, reset the automatic up/down window system according to the procedure below. 1) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 2) Pull up the power window switch so the window fully closes, then continue pulling the switch up for approximately 1 second. |
| Sunroof | Whenever the battery is disconnected, discharged, or the related fuse is replaced or reinstalled, the sunroof system must be reset according to the procedure below. 1) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 2) Depending on the sunroof position, perform the following. - If the sunroof is fully closed or tilted: Push the sunroof control lever up until the sunroof fully rises up. - If the sunroof is open: Push the sunroof control lever forward until the sunroof fully closes. Push the sunroof control lever up until the sunroof fully rises up. 3) Release the sunroof control lever. 4) Push the sunroof control lever up until the sunroof returns to its original tilt position after it is raised slightly higher than the maximum tilt position. Then release the lever. 5) Push the sunroof control lever up until the following occurs: TILT DOWN → SLIDE OPEN → SLIDE CLOSE Then release the lever. |
| Trip Computer | When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, the trip computer data is initialized. Therefore, you need to explain this information to the customer. |
| Clock | Whenever the battery terminals or related fuses are disconnected, the clock must be reset. When the ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position, the clock buttons operate as follows: ▶HOUR: Pressing the "H" button advances the displayed time by one hour. ▶MINUTE: Pressing the "M" button advances the displayed time by one minute. |
| Audio | When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, the radio customer settings are initialized. Therefore, record the customer radio settings before service and after service, and set the radio customer settings to audio. |
