Recommended Lubricants and Fill Capacities

~1min read

To ensure proper engine and drivetrain operation and long service life, use only lubricants of the appropriate quality. Using the correct lubricants also improves engine efficiency, which results in lower fuel consumption.

These lubricants and fluids are recommended for use in your vehicle.

Recommended SAE Viscosity

DANGER

Make sure the area around all filler plugs, drain plugs and dipsticks is cleaned before checking the level or draining fluid. This is especially important when the vehicle is operated in dusty or sandy environments or on unpaved roads. Cleaning the areas around the filler/drain plugs and dipsticks prevents dirt, sand, etc. from entering the engine or other components and causing damage.

Engine oil viscosity (thickness) affects fuel economy and cold-weather operation (cold starting and oil film formation). Lower viscosity engine oils can reduce fuel consumption and are more suitable for operation at low ambient temperatures. At higher temperatures, however, higher viscosity engine oils are required for adequate lubrication. Using engine oils with non-recommended viscosity may cause engine damage.

When selecting engine oil, consider the ambient temperature range in which the vehicle will be operated until the next oil change. Select the appropriate viscosity from the following table.
