Inspection

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the roof trim assembly. (Refer to Body - "Roof Trim Assembly")
  3. Disconnect the connector (A).
  4. Remove the sunroof motor (B) by removing the 3 bolts.
  5. Ground the terminals as shown in the table below and make sure the sunshade motor operates.

Sunroof Reset

Whenever the vehicle battery is disconnected or discharged, or you use the emergency handle to operate the sunroof, you must reinitialize the sunroof system as follows:
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and fully close the sunroof.
  2. Release the sunroof control lever.
  3. Press and hold the CLOSE button for more than 10 seconds until the panoramic roof moves slightly.
  4. Release the sunroof control lever.
  5. Press and hold the CLOSE button again for 3 seconds until the panoramic roof is closed as follows:
    • Tilt → Slide Open → Slide Close. Then release the lever.
  6. The panoramic roof reset procedure is complete.
  7. The sunroof ECU determines the motor operating time.
  8. The motor can operate continuously for the 1st operating time (120 ± 10 sec.).
  9. Continuous motor operation stops after the 1st operating time (120 ± 10 sec.).
  10. The motor then does not operate for the 1st cooling time (18 ± 2 sec.).
  11. The motor operates for the 2nd operating time (10 ± 2 sec.) during continuous motor operation after the 1st cooling time (18 ± 2 sec.).
  12. Continuous motor operation stops after the 2nd operating time (10 ± 2 sec.).
  13. The motor does not operate for the 2nd cooling time (18 ± 2 sec.).
  14. The motor repeats the 2nd operating time and 2nd cooling time while continuous operation continues.
    • If the motor does not operate continuously, the operating time is increased.
    • The motor operating time is reset to "0" if the battery or fuse is reconnected after being disconnected, discharged, or blown.
    T1: 120 ± 10 sec., T2: 18 ± 2 sec., T3: 10 ± 2 sec., T4: 18 ± 2 sec.
Motor Overheat Protection. To protect the panoramic roof motor from overheating during prolonged operation, the panoramic roof ECU monitors the operating time and cooling time of the motor as follows:
