Inspection

Smart Key Unit
  • Refer to Smart Key System - "Smart Key Diagnostics".
Smart Key Switch
  • Refer to Smart Key System - "Smart Key Diagnostics".
Antenna
  • Refer to Smart Key System - "Smart Key Diagnostics".
Liftgate Opener Switch
  1. Check the continuity of the circuit between the terminals of the tailgate/liftgate opener switch.
  2. If continuity is not as specified, inspect the switch.

Removal

Smart Key Unit
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the glove box housing. (Refer to Body - "Glove Box Housing")
  3. Remove the smart key unit (A) with the nuts and screw loosened, then disconnect the connector.
Internal Antenna No. 1
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the center lower airbag panel. (Refer to Body - Main Airbag Assembly)
  3. Disconnect the connector, then remove the internal antenna No. 1 (A) after removing the 2 bolts.
Internal Antenna No. 2
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the floor console assembly. (Refer to Body – Floor Console Assembly)
  3. Disconnect the connector, then remove the internal antenna No. 2 (A) after removing the 2 bolts.
  4. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  5. Remove the rear cross panel. (Refer to Body - "Rear Cross Panel")
  6. Disconnect the connector, then remove the tailgate/liftgate antenna (A) after loosening the 2 nuts.
  7. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  8. Remove the rear bumper beam assembly. (Refer to Body - "Rear Bumper Beam Assembly")
  9. Disconnect the connector, then remove the rear bumper antenna (A) after removing the 2 bolts.
  10. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  11. Remove the front left headlamp. (Refer to Lighting System - "Headlamps")
  12. Remove the buzzer (A) after disconnecting the connector.
  13. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  14. Loosen the mounting bolt after removing the link (B).
  15. Remove the front door outside handle cover (A).
  16. Remove the front door outside handle (A) by sliding it rearward.
  17. Disconnect the front door outside handle connector (A).
  18. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  19. Remove the guide panel (A) after loosening the screws.
  20. Disconnect the luggage compartment door opener switch connector (A) after loosening the screws.
Tailgate/Liftgate Antenna, Outside Bumper Antenna, Buzzer, Outside Door Handle, Tailgate/Liftgate Opener Switch

Installation

Smart Key Unit
  1. Install the smart key unit.
  2. Connect the connector and install the smart key unit.
  3. Install the glove box housing.
  4. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  5. Install the internal antenna No. 1.
  6. Install the center lower airbag panel.
  7. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  8. Install the internal antenna No. 2.
  9. Install the floor console assembly.
  10. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  11. Install the tailgate/liftgate antenna.
  12. Install the rear cross trim.
  13. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  14. Install the bumper exterior antenna.
  15. Install the rear bumper beam and bumper.
  16. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  17. Install the buzzer.
  18. Install the front left headlamp.
  19. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  20. Install the outside door handle.
  21. Install the door trim panel.
  22. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  23. Install the luggage compartment door opener switch.
  24. Install the guide panel.
  25. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
