Safety Features of Your Vehicle

Our recommendation: Children always in the rear

~1min read

WARNING

Always properly restrain children in the vehicle. Children of all ages are safer when riding in the rear seat. Never place a rear-facing child seat in the front passenger seat unless the airbag is deactivated.

Children under 13 years old must always ride in the rear seats and must always be properly restrained to minimize the risk of injury in an accident, sudden stop, or sharp maneuver.

According to accident statistics, children are safer when properly secured in the rear seats than in the front seats. Children who are too large for a child restraint system must use the seat belts provided.

In most countries, regulations require that children travel in approved child restraint systems.

The laws governing the age or height/weight limits under which seat belts may be used instead of a child restraint system differ between countries, so you must know the specific requirements in your country and in any country where you travel.

Child restraint systems must be installed correctly in the vehicle seat. Always use a commercially available child restraint system that meets the requirements of your country.

Child Restraint System (CRS)

Infants and toddlers must be secured in an appropriate rear-facing or forward-facing CRS that is first properly installed on the vehicle seat. Read and follow the installation and use instructions provided by the manufacturer of the child restraint system.

WARNING

  • Always follow the child restraint system manufacturer's instructions for installation and use.
  • Always properly restrain the child in the child restraint system.
  • Do not use a car cot or child seat that hooks over the seatback, as it may not provide adequate protection in an accident.
  • After an accident, have the system inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
