Tyre pressure loss warning

~2min read

Important safety notes

The tire pressure loss warning uses the wheel rotational speed to monitor while driving that the pressure is maintained at the set value. It is thus able to detect a significant loss of pressure in a tire. If the rotational speed of a wheel changes due to a drop in pressure in the tire, a warning message appears in the multifunction display.

The tire pressure loss warning system does not warn you if the set pressure is incorrect. Observe the notes on the recommended tire inflation pressures.

The tire pressure loss warning system does not relieve you of regularly checking the tire pressure, as it is not able to detect an identical pressure loss in all 4 tires.

The tire pressure loss warning system cannot warn you of a sudden pressure loss, caused for example by a foreign object penetrating the tire. In this case, brake carefully until the vehicle has come to a complete stop.

Do not make abrupt steering movements.

The tire pressure loss warning system operates with limited functionality or with a certain delay when

  • snow chains are fitted
  • winter road conditions apply
  • you are driving on soft ground (such as sand or gravel, for example)
  • you adopt a very sporty driving style (high speed in bends, strong acceleration)
  • you are towing a very heavy or large trailer
  • you are driving with a load on the roof or with a heavy load

Resetting the tyre pressure loss warning

Restart the tire pressure loss warning system when

  • you have changed the tire pressure
  • you have replaced a wheel or tire
  • you have fitted new wheels or new tires
  • Before restarting the tire pressure loss warning system, use the table in the fuel filler flap to check that the pressure of all 4 tires is suitable for the vehicle's operating conditions.

The tire pressure loss warning system is reliable only if you have set the correct pressure. If the set pressure is not correct, monitoring is based on an incorrect value.
