Wheels and tires

Flat tire

~2min read

You will find information on the procedure to follow in the event of a flat tire in the chapter "In the event of a flat tire". It also contains instructions on driving with MOExtended tires in the event of a flat tire.

Wheel rotation

WARNING

If you swap the front and rear wheels while the rims or tires are of different sizes, the handling characteristics may change significantly. In addition, the wheel brakes or wheel suspension components may be damaged. There is a risk of accident.

Only swap the front and rear wheels if the rims and tires are the same size.

Swapping the front and rear wheels while the rims or tires are of different sizes may void the vehicle's operating permit.

Be sure to observe the instructions and safety notes in the section "Fitting wheels".

Depending on operating conditions, the wear of the front axle tires differs from that of the rear axle tires. Rotate the wheels once characteristic wear appears on the tires. Characteristic wear means shoulder wear on the front tires and center tread wear on the rear tires.

If all wheels of the vehicle are the same size, you can rotate them every 5,000 to 10,000 km, depending on their degree of wear. When doing so, observe the wheel rotation direction.

Thoroughly clean the contact surfaces of the wheels and brake discs at each rotation. Check the tire pressure and restart the tire pressure loss warning system if necessary.

Direction of rotation

Tires with a prescribed direction of rotation offer additional benefits, for example in terms of hydroplaning resistance. These benefits are effective only if you observe the prescribed direction of rotation.

The direction of rotation is marked by an arrow on the tire sidewall.

Wheel storage

Store removed wheels in a cool, dry place, preferably protected from light. Protect the tires from oil, grease or fuel.

Cleaning the wheels

WARNING

Do not use a high-pressure cleaner equipped with a rotating nozzle (rotary brush) to clean your vehicle, especially the tires. Otherwise, you could damage the tires and cause an accident.
