M+S tires
M+S tires with a tread depth of less than 4 mm are not suitable for winter driving because they do not provide sufficient grip. There is a risk of an accident.
Always replace M+S tires whose tread depth is less than 4 mm.
Once M+S tires are fitted:
- Check the tire pressure.
- Restart the tire pressure loss warning system.
When the temperature is below +7 °C
, use winter tires or all-season tires
. Both types of tire are marked M+S.
In winter driving conditions, only winter tires marked with an additional snowflake symbol
next to the M+S marking
provide the best possible grip. Active safety systems such as ABS or ESP® only reach their optimum efficiency with these tires, as they are designed specifically for driving in snow.
To ensure good handling, fit M+S tires of the same brand and the same tread pattern to all wheels.
Always observe the maximum permitted speed for M+S tires.
If the M+S tires fitted to the vehicle are not rated for the vehicle's maximum permitted speed, you must place a corresponding speed reminder label within the driver's field of vision. You can obtain one from a qualified workshop.
In addition, limit the vehicle's maximum speed to the value permitted for M+S tires using permanent SPEEDTRONIC.
