The segments that light up on the speedometer indicate the available speed range.

TEMPOMAT activated:

The segments between the stored speed and the maximum speed are lit.

SPEEDTRONIC activated: The segments between the start of the scale and the stored speed limit are lit.

DISTRONIC PLUS activated: 1 or 2 segments in the area of the stored speed are lit.

DISTRONIC PLUS detects a vehicle ahead: The segments between the speed of the vehicle ahead and the stored speed are lit.
