Service messages

The ASSYST PLUS service interval display informs you of the next service date.

Information on the service scope and service intervals (see separate service booklet).

For more information, contact a Mercedes-Benz service center.

Info

The ASSYST PLUS service interval display does not show any information on the engine oil level. Observe the notes on the engine oil level.

The multifunction display shows a service message for a few seconds, e.g.

  • Service A in .. days
  • Service scope A due
  • Service A overdue for .. days
Depending on the vehicle's operating conditions, the remaining time or distance until the next service is displayed.

The letter indicates the service scope. A stands for a small service and B for a large service. A number or another letter may be shown after the letter.

Only for certain countries: The character after the letter A or B provides information on additional work required. If you show this display to a qualified workshop, you can obtain an estimate of the costs involved.

The ASSYST PLUS service interval display only records time when the battery is connected.

To keep to the time-based service date:

Before disconnecting the battery, display the service due date in the multifunction display and note it down.

    Information on service

Resetting the ASSYST PLUS service interval display

    NOTE

If the ASSYST PLUS service interval display has been reset accidentally, have the setting corrected at a qualified specialist workshop.

Have service work carried out as described in the service booklet. Otherwise, increased wear and damage to components or the vehicle may occur.

When the qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Center, has carried out the service work, the ASSYST PLUS service interval display is reset. You can also obtain further information there, e.g. on service work.

    Special service measures

The prescribed service interval is designed for normal vehicle operation. Under severe operating conditions or increased vehicle loads, service work must be carried out more often than prescribed, e.g.
    • during regular city driving with frequent stops
    • mainly during short-distance operation
    • during frequent operation in mountainous areas or on poor roads
    • during frequent, prolonged idling.
Under these or similar operating conditions, have the air filter, engine oil and oil filter replaced more often, for example. Under increased loads, the tires must be checked more often. For more information, contact a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Center.

    Travel abroad

A widely available Mercedes-Benz service network is also available abroad. For more information, contact any Mercedes-Benz Service Center.

    AdBlue service display

    Info
    BlueTEC vehicles only.

The BlueTEC exhaust aftertreatment system must be operated with the AdBlue reducing agent to function properly. Refilling with AdBlue is part of the service scope. Under normal driving conditions, one tank filling of AdBlue lasts until the next service due date.

Depending on how the vehicle is used, AdBlue consumption may be higher and the next service due date may come sooner.

Certain display messages indicate that AdBlue must be refilled, e.g.

Top up AdBlue at workshop, see Owner's Manual

Have AdBlue refilled at workshop No start in .. km

    A warning tone also sounds.

If the AdBlue supply is used up, you cannot start the vehicle.

    NOTE

Have the AdBlue tank refilled only at a qualified specialist workshop. Otherwise, damage and contamination of the vehicle may occur.

Before trips to countries outside Europe, have the AdBlue supply checked at a qualified specialist workshop. If necessary, have AdBlue refilled. Before a longer stay outside Europe, contact a qualified specialist workshop.

    Observe the notes on AdBlue.

For more information on BlueTEC exhaust aftertreatment and AdBlue, contact a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Center.

The notes on the battery of the Mercedes E-Class W212 (model years 2009–2016) help ensure a reliable power supply to the vehicle. Important recommendations on maintenance, safe removal and proper replacement help prevent damage and extend the service life of the battery.

Particular attention must be paid to proper handling in order to avoid hazards such as burns from acid or electrical accidents. Mercedes shows here how safety and technology go hand in hand, even with seemingly simple components.

This is how the E-Class remains a model example of well-engineered, high-quality vehicle technology.
