General Notes

Environmental Note

Daimler AG is committed to comprehensive environmental protection.

The goals are the economical use of resources and careful treatment of the natural resources on which people and nature depend.

By operating your vehicle in an environmentally friendly way, you too can contribute to environmental protection.

Fuel consumption and wear of the engine, transmission, brakes and tires depend on the following two factors:
  • Operating conditions of your vehicle
  • Your personal driving style
You can influence both factors. Therefore, observe the following notes:

Operating conditions

  • Avoid short trips, as they increase fuel consumption.
  • Make sure the tire pressure is correct.
  • Do not carry unnecessary weight.
  • Remove a roof rack that you do not need.
  • A vehicle that is serviced regularly protects the environment. Therefore, keep to the service intervals.
  • Always have service work carried out by a qualified workshop.
Personal driving style
  • Do not depress the accelerator when starting the engine.
  • Do not let the engine warm up while the vehicle is stationary.
  • Drive ahead and keep a sufficient distance.
  • Avoid frequent and hard acceleration and braking.
  • Shift up early and use each gear only up to its upper limit.
  • Switch off the engine during traffic-related waiting periods.
  • Monitor fuel consumption.

End-of-Life Vehicle Take-Back

For EU countries only:

Mercedes-Benz takes back your end-of-life vehicle for environmentally sound disposal in accordance with the European Union (EU) End-of-Life Vehicles Directive.

A network of take-back points and dismantling facilities is available for the return of end-of-life vehicles. You can hand in your vehicle free of charge at these facilities. In this way, you make a valuable contribution to closing the recycling loop and conserving resources.

For more information on end-of-life vehicle recycling, recovery and the take-back conditions, visit the national Mercedes-Benz website.

The Mercedes E-Class W212 (model years 2009–2016) impresses not only with its advanced technology but also with a well-considered environmental concept. The responsible use of resources and the opportunity to actively contribute to environmental protection through your own driving style demonstrate the sustainable focus of this model series.

It is particularly noteworthy that the 4th generation Mercedes E-Class, with its end-of-life vehicle take-back, sets a strong example for recycling and resource conservation. In environmental terms as well, this makes the model a pioneering choice in the upper-middle-class saloon segment.

Overall, the E-Class W212 proves to be an exemplary vehicle that successfully balances premium standards with environmental responsibility, making it an ideal companion for environmentally conscious drivers who value quality and sustainability.
