Electronic climate control
There are two versions of the climate control: single-zone or dual-zone temperature control. Dual-zone climate control allows different climate temperatures for the driver side and the front passenger side.

Controls for single-zone:
- Temperature
- Air distribution
- Blower speed
= cooling
= automatic mode
= air recirculation
= demisting and defrosting

Controls for dual-zone:
- Driver side temperature
- Air distribution
- Blower speed
- Front passenger side temperature
= cooling
= automatic mode
= air recirculation
= demisting and defrosting

The preset temperature is controlled automatically. In automatic mode, the blower speed and air distribution control the airflow automatically.
The system can be adjusted manually using the air distribution and airflow controls.

The data is shown on the climate control display.
The appearance may differ depending on whether the system is single-zone or dual-zone climate control.

Any change in settings is shown for a few seconds on the information display.
The climate control settings are stored in the key used to lock the vehicle.
The automatic climate control system operates only when the engine is running.
Automatic mode AUTO

Basic setting for maximum comfort:
- Press the AUTO button; the climate control is switched on automatically.

Dual-zone climate control: Set the desired temperatures for the driver and front passenger using the left and right rotary knobs.
The automatic mode fan speed control can be changed in the Settings menu.

All air vents are operated automatically in automatic mode. The air vents must therefore always remain open.
Temperature preselection

Set the temperatures to the desired value.

If the minimum temperature is set, the climate control system operates at its maximum cooling capacity, if cooling
is activated.
If the maximum temperature is set, the climate control operates at its maximum heating capacity.
Dual-zone climate control: for a common temperature setting, use the Settings menu.
Note
For climate comfort reasons, an Auto Stop may be interrupted, or the engine will restart automatically when cooling is activated.

Defogging and defrosting the windows
- Press the button
. - Press the cooling button
. - The temperature and airflow distribution are adjusted automatically, and the fan runs at high speed.
- Activate the rear window heating
. - To return to the previous mode: press the button
,
to return to automatic mode: press the AUTO button.
The automatic rear window heating setting can be changed in the Settings menu of the information display. Vehicle Personalization 116.
Note
Press the button
while the engine is running, interrupts Auto Stop until the button
is pressed
again.
Press the button
While
the engine is in Auto Stop, the engine restarts automatically.
Manual adjustments
The climate control settings can be changed by operating the buttons and rotary knobs as follows. Changing a setting will deactivate automatic mode.
Blower speed
on single-zone climate control

Turn the right rotary knob. The selected fan speed is shown by a number of segments on the display.
If the fan is switched off, the climate control is also switched off.
To return to automatic mode: press the AUTO button.
Blower speed
on dual-zone climate control

Press the left button
to decrease or the right button
to increase the fan speed. The fan speed is shown by a number of segments on the display.
Holding the left button down for longer turns off the fan and cooling.
Holding the right button down for longer: the fan runs at its maximum speed.
To return to automatic mode: press the AUTO button.
Air distribution
Press the button for the desired setting. Activation is indicated by the LED in the button.
= to the windshield and the
front side windows.
= to the head via the adjustable
air vents.
= to the feet.
Combinations are possible.
To return to automatic airflow distribution: deactivate the corresponding setting or press the AUTO button.
Cooling
Activate or deactivate with the button
.
The air conditioning system cools and dehumidifies (dries) the air above a certain outside temperature.
Condensation may then form, which drains as water under the vehicle.
If neither cooling nor dehumidification is desired, switch off cooling to save fuel. When the cooling system is switched off, the climate control system will not request an engine restart during an Auto Stop. Exception: if the defrost system is activated and the outside temperature is above 0 °C, a restart is requested.
Automatic air recirculation in dual-zone climate control
Automatic air recirculation has an air humidity sensor that automatically admits outside air if the interior air humidity is too high.
Manual air recirculation mode
Operation with the button
.
Caution
The air recirculation system reduces the intake of outside air.
When used without cooling, the humidity of the air increases and the windows may fog up. The air quality decreases, which can cause passengers to feel tired.
In hot, very humid ambient conditions, the windshield may fog up on the outside when cold air is directed onto it. If the windshield fogs up on the outside, switch on the front wiper and deactivate
.
Press the button once
to activate air recirculation mode.
Activation is indicated by the LED in the button.
