Recommended fluids and lubricants

Use only products that meet the recommended specifications.

Damage resulting from the use of products that do not meet these specifications is not covered by the warranty.

Caution

The products required to operate the vehicle are hazardous and may be harmful. Handle with care. Observe the instructions on the containers.

Engine oil

Engine oil is identified by its quality and its viscosity. When selecting the engine oil to use, quality is more important than viscosity.

The quality ensures, for example, engine cleanliness, protection against wear and control of oil aging, while the viscosity grade defines the flow capability of the oil over a certain temperature range.

dexos is the latest engine oil specification and provides optimum protection for gasoline and diesel engines. If dexos is not available, engine oils of the other specifications listed must be used. The recommendations for gasoline engines also apply to engines running on compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ethanol (E85).

Select the appropriate engine oil based on its quality and the minimum ambient temperature 257.

Topping up engine oil

Engine oils of different brands and manufacturers may be mixed, provided the required engine oil quality and viscosity are observed.

The use of ACEA A1/B1 and A5/B5 engine oils is prohibited, as they may cause long-term engine damage under certain operating conditions.

Select the appropriate engine oil based on its quality and the minimum ambient temperature 257.

Additional engine oil additives

The use of additional engine oil additives may cause damage and void the warranty.

Engine oil viscosity grades

The SAE viscosity grade defines the flow capability of an oil.

Multigrade oil is indicated by two numbers, e.g. SAE 5W-30.

The first number, followed by a W, indicates the viscosity at low temperature, and the second number indicates the viscosity at high temperature.

Select the appropriate viscosity grade based on the minimum ambient temperature 257.

All recommended viscosity grades are suitable for use at high ambient temperatures.

Coolant and antifreeze

Use only silicate-free, long-life (LLC) coolant antifreeze.

The system is filled at the factory with coolant that provides excellent corrosion protection and frost protection down to approximately -28 °C. This concentration must be maintained throughout the year. The use of additional coolant additives intended to provide extra corrosion protection or to seal small leaks may cause operating problems.

We accept no liability for consequences resulting from the use of additional coolant additives.

Brake/clutch fluid

Use only high-performance brake fluid approved for this vehicle. Contact a workshop.

Over time, brake fluid absorbs moisture, which reduces braking efficiency. Brake fluid must therefore be replaced at the specified interval.

Brake fluid must be stored in a sealed container to prevent it from absorbing moisture.

Make sure the brake fluid is not contaminated.
