Long-term storage

If the vehicle is to be stored for several months:

  • Wash and wax the vehicle.
  • Have the wax protection in the engine compartment and on the underbody checked.
  • Clean and protect the rubber seals.
  • Fill the fuel tank.
  • Replace the engine oil.
  • Empty the washer fluid reservoir.
  • Check the antifreeze and corrosion protection of the coolant.
  • Set the tire pressure to the value for full load.
  • Park the vehicle in a dry, well-ventilated room. Engage 1st or reverse gear, or place the selector lever in P. Prevent the vehicle from moving by using wheel chocks.
  • Do not apply the parking brake.
  • Open the hood, close all doors and lock the vehicle.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal clamp from the vehicle battery.
Keep in mind that none of the systems will function (for example, the anti-theft alarm).

Returning to service

When the vehicle is returned to service:

  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Activate the power window electronics.
  • Check the tire pressure.
  • Fill the washer fluid reservoir.
  • Check the engine oil level.
  • Check the coolant level.
  • If applicable, reinstall the license plate.
