■ If the engine knocks

  • Consult any Toyota dealer or repairer, or another suitably qualified and equipped professional.
  • Occasionally, light and brief knocking may be noticed during acceleration or when driving uphill. This is normal and there is no need to be concerned.

NOTE

■ Fuel quality notes

  • Do not use unsuitable fuel. Using unsuitable fuel will cause engine damage.
  • Do not use leaded gasoline.

Leaded gasoline will reduce the efficiency of the three-way catalytic converter and the emission control system will not function properly.

  • Do not use gasoline blended with methanol such as M15, M85, M100.
  • Using gasoline containing methanol may cause damage or malfunction of the engine.

  • EU area: Bioethanol fuel sold under trade names such as "E50" or "E85", and fuel containing a significant percentage of ethanol must not be used. Using such fuels will damage the vehicle's fuel system. If in doubt, consult any Toyota dealer or repairer, or another suitably qualified and equipped professional.
  • Except EU area: Bioethanol fuel sold under trade names such as "E50" or "E85", and fuel containing a significant percentage of ethanol must not be used. Gasoline blended with no more than 10% ethanol may be used in the vehicle. Using fuel containing more than 10% ethanol (E10) will damage the vehicle's fuel system. Make sure you refuel only at stations where fuel quality and specifications can be guaranteed. If in doubt, consult any Toyota dealer or repairer, or another suitably qualified and equipped professional.
