Vehicle Identification Number
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or chassis number is the official identifier of each vehicle. This is the primary identification number for your Toyota. It is used for vehicle ownership registration.
This number is stamped under the front right seat.

3-door models
This number is also located on the manufacturer's label on the right-hand center pillar.

5-door models
This number is also located on the manufacturer's label on the right-hand rear pillar.

*: The engine oil capacity is a reference quantity for oil changes. Bring the engine to operating temperature, then stop it, wait more than 5 minutes and check the oil level on the dipstick.
■ Selecting engine oil Your Toyota vehicle was filled with "Toyota Genuine Motor Oil". Toyota recommends using approved "Toyota Genuine Motor Oil". Other engine oil of equivalent quality may also be used.
Oil grade: 0W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30: API grade SL "Energy-Conserving", SM "Energy-Conserving" or SN "Resource-Conserving" engine oil, or ILSAC 15W-40: API grade SL, SM or SN multigrade engine oil

Recommended viscosity (SAE): Your Toyota vehicle is filled at the factory with SAE 0W-20, the best choice for good fuel economy and for avoiding starting problems in low outside temperatures.
If SAE 0W-20 oil is not available, SAE 5W-30 may be used. In any case, it should be replaced with SAE 0W-20 at the next oil change.
If engine oil with SAE 10W-30 or higher viscosity is used in extremely low temperatures, starting problems may occur. Therefore, use engine oil with SAE 0W-20 or 5W-30 viscosity.
Oil viscosity (0W-20 shown as an example):
- The 0W value in 0W-20 indicates the oil's cold-start characteristic. Oils with a lower number before the W allow the engine to start more easily in cold conditions.
- The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the oil's viscosity characteristic at high temperatures. A higher viscosity grade (that is, a higher viscosity value) is especially suitable for vehicles driven at high speeds or under heavy loads.
How to read the oil container labels: Some oil containers show one or both API marks to make them easy to identify.

- API Service Symbol Upper part: "API SERVICE SN" indicates the oil quality according to the American Petroleum Institute (API).
Center part: "SAE 0W-20" indicates the SAE viscosity grade.
Bottom: "Resource-Conserving" means the oil has properties that help save fuel and protect the environment.HM01 engine

■ Selecting engine oil The Toyota vehicle uses "TOTAL ACTIVA 7000/9000" or "TOTAL QUARTZ 7000/9000" engine oil. Toyota recommends using approved "TOTAL ACTIVA 7000/9000" or "TOTAL QUARTZ 7000/9000" engine oil.
Other engine oil of equivalent quality may also be used.
Oil grade: 5W-40 and 10W-40: API grade SL "Energy-Conserving" or SM "Energy-Conserving"

Recommended viscosity (SAE): If engine oil with SAE 10W-40 or higher viscosity is used in extremely low temperatures, starting problems may occur.
Therefore, use engine oil with SAE 5W-40 viscosity.
Oil viscosity (5W-40 shown as an example):
- The 5W value in 5W-40 indicates the oil's cold-start characteristic. Oils with a lower number before the W allow the engine to start more easily in cold conditions.
- The 40 in 5W-40 indicates the oil's viscosity characteristic at high temperatures. A higher viscosity grade (that is, a higher viscosity value) is especially suitable for vehicles driven at high speeds or under heavy loads.
How to read the oil container labels: Some oil containers show the API mark to make them easy to identify.

NOTE
■ Manual transmission oil (1KR engine) Please note that, depending on the specific characteristics of the transmission oil used or operating conditions, idle noise, gear-shift feel and/or fuel economy may differ or be altered. For optimum performance, Toyota recommends the use of "TOYOTA Genuine Manual Transmission Gear Oil LV".
