Moving the front seat to access the rear seat (3-door models)

■ Getting in and out of the vehicle To allow easy access to the rear seats, use the seatback release lever. When the seatback release lever is operated, the original seat position is stored so that the seat can be returned to its initial position.

Lift the seatback release lever.

The seatback will fold forward and the sliding mechanism will be released.

Slide the seat fully forward.

■ After passengers have boarded (3-door models) Slide the seat back, then raise the seatback. The seat will automatically return to and lock in the previous position. If the seat cannot be returned to the previous position because of a rear passenger or cargo, the seat will be locked in place and the seat position memory system will be disabled.

To return to the previous position, lift the seatback release lever after removing the cargo or after the passenger has exited or is properly seated, so that the seat can be returned to the desired position. However, if the seat is moved further back than the previous position using the seat position adjustment lever, the stored previous position will be overwritten.

WARNING

■ When adjusting the seat position

  • When adjusting the seat position, make sure that other passengers are not injured by the moving seat.
  • Do not put your hands under the seat or near moving parts to avoid injury.
Your fingers or hands could become trapped in the seat mechanism.

■ Seat adjustment

  • Do not recline the seat more than necessary to reduce the risk of sliding under the lap belt in a collision.

If the seat is reclined too far, the lap belt may slide under the hips and apply compression force directly to the abdomen, or the neck may come into contact with the shoulder belt, increasing the risk of serious or fatal injury in an accident.

Do not make adjustments while driving, as the seat may move suddenly and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

  • After adjusting the seat, make sure it is locked in position.
  • 3-door models: Do not allow anyone to operate the seatback release lever while the vehicle is in motion.
