Clutch Installation

~1min read

If installing a new clutch or any new parts, carefully make sure the protective grease is not transferred to the friction surfaces.

Make sure no oil gets on the friction linings, pressure plate and flywheel surfaces during assembly. Always work with clean hands and wipe parts with a clean, dry cloth before assembly.

Begin assembly by positioning the clutch disc against the flywheel. The disc surfaces may be marked "Engine"/"Transmission" or similar. Hold the clutch disc against the flywheel using a clutch alignment tool until the clutch cover is installed.

· Install the clutch cover, aligning it with the flywheel using the marks made during removal. Fit the cover onto the flywheel locating pins. Insert the mounting bolts and tighten them by hand so the clutch disc is held in the cover but can still move.
