Clutch Assembly, Clutch Removal
Clutch Assembly WARNING: Dust produced by the clutch disc and deposited on clutch parts may contain asbestos, which is hazardous to health. Do NOT blow it off with compressed air. Do NOT use gasoline or other gasoline-based solvents to clean clutch parts. Methyl alcohol or a special brake cleaning fluid may be used for this purpose. After cleaning, place used rags in a closed, labeled container.
Removal · Remove the transmission.
· If the original clutch is to be reinstalled, mark the position of the clutch cover on the flywheel with paint so that the clutch can be installed in the same position.
· Loosen the clutch cover mounting bolts to the flywheel in a diagonal sequence, loosening each bolt one to two turns at a time. If necessary, lock the flywheel by inserting a wide screwdriver into the ring gear teeth and bracing it against a suitable bolt or the cylinder block (Fig. 9.2.1.1).
