Installing Child Restraint Systems
At a BMW service center you can purchase child restraint systems for all age groups and weight categories.
To ensure child restraint systems fully perform their protective functions, follow the manufacturer's instructions when selecting, installing and using them.
After an accident, have all components of the child restraint system and the seat belt used be inspected and, if necessary, replaced at a service center. Have this work performed only by a BMW service center.◄
To avoid endangering yourself and your passengers, observe the rules for using seat belts described in◄
Installation on the front passenger seat
Before installing a child restraint system on the front passenger seat, be sure to deactivate the front and side airbags on that side, otherwise deployed airbags may cause serious injury to the child.◄
Seat height
Before installing a universal child restraint system, move the front passenger seat to its uppermost position so that the belt can be properly adjusted. Do not lower the seat again.
Backrest width
The front passenger seat backrest must be fully reclined and kept in this position at all times, otherwise the child seat will not fit snugly against it.◄
1. Recline the seatback to its full width.
2. Install the child seat.
