The warning lamp illuminates and a message appears in the control display: system faulty or switched off. At low speeds the steering wheel must be turned further. At high speeds the vehicle reacts more sharply to steering wheel input.
The stabilizing effect may also be absent. Continue driving with caution and anticipate the situation. Have the system checked at a BMW service center.
