Active Steering is a system that can vary the steering gear ratio. Depending on the driving speed, the force the driver must apply to the steering wheel also varies.
At low speeds, for example in town or when parking, the steering ratio increases, making steering more direct. As speed increases, the steering ratio decreases proportionally. In this way, the system optimizes vehicle handling depending on speed.
In critical situations, the system can specifically change the steering angle of the steered wheels set by the driver, stabilizing the vehicle before the driver would do so.
