Battery
Maintenance
The battery is maintenance-free, meaning the amount of electrolyte filled into the battery is sufficient for its entire service life (under moderate climatic conditions). For all questions regarding the battery, contact a BMW service center.
Charging the battery
Charge the battery only with the engine switched off, using the terminals in the engine compartment. For the terminals, see the section Jump Starting.
Disposal
Take the spent battery to a special collection point or a BMW service center. Charged batteries are transported and stored upright. During transport, take measures to prevent the battery from tipping over.◄
After a Power Interruption
After a power interruption (for example, if the battery was fully discharged), some vehicle equipment must be initialized and individual settings restored:
► Seat, mirror and steering wheel memory positions
The positions must be programmed again.
► Time and date
Set the correct values.
► Radio
The radio stations must be programmed again.
► Navigation system
Wait until the system is ready for operation.
► Power sunroof
The sunroof may only operate in the raising direction. The system must be initialized.
► Digital compass
Perform calibration.
Before operating the vehicle, consult a BMW service center.◄
