Lamps and Lights
Road safety depends largely on the condition of the lighting equipment. Therefore, observe all rules strictly when replacing bulbs. Have work that is unfamiliar or not described in this manual performed by a BMW service center.
Do not touch the glass envelope of new bulbs with bare hands, as even minor contamination burns onto the surface and shortens bulb life. Use a clean cloth, paper towel, or similar.
or hold the lamp by its base.◄
Replacement lamp kits are available at BMW service centers.
To avoid burns, allow the bulbs to cool before replacing them.◄
To avoid short circuits, switch off the device being repaired before performing any electrical work. When replacing bulbs, strictly follow all instructions from the bulb manufacturer. This helps prevent injury and damage to the bulb.◄
Follow the instructions when servicing the headlights.
Have lamp replacement work not described here performed at a BMW service center.◄
LEDs
LEDs are used to illuminate controls, indicators, and other interior equipment of the vehicle. LEDs have much in common with conventional lasers and are officially called Class 1 light-emitting diodes.
Do not look at exposed LEDs for long periods, as this may cause retinal irritation, so they are covered by lenses that filter their emission. Do not remove these covers.◄
Xenon headlights
These bulbs have a very long service life, so the probability of failure is very low. If a bulb burns out, you may continue driving with the fog lights switched on (if permitted by the regulations of the country you are in), taking into account that visibility is reduced.
Work on xenon lighting equipment, including bulb replacement, must be performed only at a BMW service center. High voltage in this equipment is dangerous to life.◄
