Coolant

Fill the cooling system only when the engine has cooled down, otherwise you risk scalding.◄

Coolant consists of water and antifreeze. Not all antifreezes available on the market are suitable for your BMW.

To find out which antifreeze products are suitable, contact a BMW service center.

To avoid engine damage, use only recommended coolants. Coolants are hazardous to health.◄

When disposing of coolants, observe the environmental protection regulations.◄

Checking the Coolant Level

1. The engine must be at room temperature.

2. First relieve the excess pressure in the reservoir by turning the cap slightly counterclockwise, then open the reservoir.

3. Under normal conditions, the coolant level must be between the "Min" and "Max" marks on the filler neck, see the illustration next to the neck.

4. If necessary, slowly add coolant, taking care not to overfill.

5. Tighten the cap until it clicks audibly.

6. Eliminate the cause of the coolant leak as soon as possible.
