Battery
Maintenance
The battery is maintenance-free, meaning the amount of electrolyte filled into the battery is sufficient for its entire service life (under moderate climatic conditions). For all questions regarding the battery, contact a BMW service center.
Charging the battery
The battery should be charged only with the engine switched off, via the terminals in the engine compartment. For the terminals, see the section "Starting the engine from an external power source".
Disposal
Dispose of a spent battery at a special collection point or at a BMW service center. Charged batteries are transported and stored upright. During transport, take measures to prevent the battery from tipping over.◄
After a Power Interruption
After a interruption in the power supply, some vehicle equipment must be initialised and individual settings restored:
► Active steering: the system must be initialised. Uninitialised steering responds unexpectedly.
► Seat, mirror and steering wheel memory position: the positions must be reprogrammed.
► Time and date: the time and date must be set again.
► Radio: the radio stations must be programmed again.
► Navigation system: wait until the system is ready for operation.
