Note

1

When driving under severe conditions (frequent short trips, frequent idling or operation in dusty conditions), the engine oil and filter may need to be replaced more often.
2 Fluid loss from any of the vehicle's systems may indicate a problem. Have the system inspected and repaired, and check the fluid level. Top up the fluid if necessary.
3 i 17 When driving regularly in dusty conditions, check the filter more often.

When driving regularly in dusty conditions, the filter may need to be replaced more often.

5 Visually inspect rigid and flexible fuel lines for chafing, leaks, cracks, wear, etc. Check disc brake pads for wear and the discs for surface condition. Check drum brake linings/shoes for wear and cracks. Check other brake components, including drums, wheel cylinders, calipers, parking brake, etc.
7 Visually inspect the front and rear suspension and steering for damage, play, missing parts or signs of wear. Check power steering components for chafing, cracks, wear, etc.
8 Check wiper blades for wear, cracks or contamination. Clean the windscreen and wiper blades if dirty. Replace worn or damaged wiper blades.
12 When driving under severe conditions (driving in hilly or mountainous terrain or frequent towing), the brake fluid may need to be replaced more often.
13 Visually inspect flexible hoses and have them repaired if they are cracked, swollen or worn. Check all rigid pipes, fittings and clamps, and replace them with genuine parts if necessary. To ensure proper operation, it is recommended to pressure test the cooling system and radiator cap, and to clean the outside of the radiator and the air conditioning condenser.
14 Make sure the seat belt warning lamp and the seat belts operate correctly. Look for any other loose or damaged parts of the seat belt system. If the seat belt system is found to be impaired, have it repaired. Make sure torn or frayed seat belts are replaced.
16 Lubricate all door lock cylinders, hinges and latches, bonnet hinges and latches, and tailgate/boot lid hinges and latches. If exposed to conditions that promote corrosion, more frequent lubrication may be required. Applying silicone grease to the door seals with a clean cloth will extend their life, improve sealing and prevent sticking or squeaking.
27 The diesel fuel filter element may need to be replaced more often when using biodiesel fuel frequently, driving in heavily dusty environments, off-road, or when towing over long distances.
General information on automatic transmission Replace the automatic transmission fluid and filter if the vehicle is mainly operated under the following conditions:
  • Driving in heavy city traffic where outside temperatures regularly reach 90F (32C) or higher.
  • Driving in hilly or mountainous terrain.
  • Frequent towing of a trailer.
  • Uses such as taxi, police vehicle or delivery van.
Belt information Visually check the belt for fraying, excessive cracks or other damage. Replace the belt if necessary.
General information Check all systems for abnormalities and for bent, damaged or missing parts. Replace parts if necessary. Replace any excessively worn components.
Tyre condition and air pressure Always check the condition of the tyres before setting off. Check the tyre pressure with a pressure gauge at every refuelling, or at least once a month.
Wheel alignment Adjust the toe-in and balance the wheels if necessary.
