Severe Operating Conditions
Operating conditions are considered severe if one or more of the following factors occur frequently:
- Frequent driving on short trips of less than 10 km (6 miles).
- Frequent engine idling and/or low-speed driving in stop-and-go city traffic.
- Driving in dusty conditions.
- Driving on hilly or mountainous terrain.
- Towing a trailer.
- Driving in heavy city traffic where the outside temperature frequently reaches 32°C and above.
- Using the vehicle as a taxi, police vehicle, or delivery vehicle.
- Frequent driving at outside temperatures below freezing.
Police vehicles, taxis and driving school vehicles are also classified as operated under severe conditions.
When operating under severe conditions, certain maintenance services may be required more often than the maintenance schedule specifies.
Consult a service technician to determine the increased maintenance requirements needed for your operating conditions.
