Towing the vehicle
If the vehicle needs to be towed, we recommend using our service network or a professional towing company.

The best way to transport the vehicle is by roadside assistance vehicle.

When towing on two wheels, lift the front wheels off the ground and tow the vehicle on its rear wheels.
When towing the vehicle, follow the procedure below:
- No passengers may remain in the towed vehicle.
- In the towed vehicle, release the parking brake and select the neutral gear position.
- Turn on the hazard warning lights.
- Observe speed limits.
Emergency towing
If a towing company cannot be used in an emergency, the vehicle may be towed temporarily using a rope attached to the emergency tow eye.

Press the cover to unlock it, then remove it.
The tow eye is stored in the vehicle tool kit.

Screw in the tow eye, turning it until it stops, and set it in a horizontal position.
Attach the tow rope or tow bar; a tow bar is the preferred solution.
The tow eye may be used only for towing, not for pulling the vehicle out.
Switch the ignition on to unlock the steering wheel and enable the brake lights, horn and wipers.
Set the gear selector to the neutral position.
Caution Pull away slowly, avoiding jerks. Overloading the tow may damage both vehicles. With the engine off, braking and steering require much greater effort.
Turn on air recirculation and close the windows so that exhaust fumes from the towing vehicle do not enter the cabin.
Versions with automatic transmission: Do not tow the vehicle using the tow eye.
Towing the vehicle with a rope may cause serious damage to the automatic transmission. If the vehicle with automatic transmission must be towed, use a flatbed truck or a dolly.
Versions with manual transmission: The vehicle must be towed forward in the direction of travel at a maximum speed of 88 km/h. In all other cases, and if the transmission is damaged, the front axle of the vehicle must be lifted.
Seek assistance from a workshop.
After towing, unscrew the tow eye.
Insert and lock the cover.
