Airbags

~2min read

The vehicle is equipped with several independent types of airbags.

Airbags inflate with gas within a few milliseconds. They also deflate very quickly, so it is difficult to notice the moment when they are inflated during a collision.

Warning Improper handling may cause the airbags to deploy suddenly. The driver should move the seat as far back as possible, but without making it difficult to control the vehicle. If the driver sits too close to the airbag, there is a risk of death or serious injury when it inflates. For maximum protection in all types of road accidents, all passengers and the driver should always wear their seat belts to minimize the risk of serious injury or death in an accident. Do not sit or lean unnecessarily close to the airbags while the vehicle is moving.

An airbag may cause facial or body injuries by striking glasses, or burns from the explosion when it deploys.

Note The electronic control modules for the airbags and seat belt pretensioners are located inside the center console.

For this reason, do not place any objects that generate a magnetic field near this console.

Do not place any stickers or other objects on the airbag covers.

Each airbag works only once. Airbags that have been deployed must be replaced at a service workshop without delay.

Do not modify the airbag systems in any way, as this may invalidate the vehicle type approval.

If an airbag has deployed, have the steering wheel, instrument panel, all trim, door seals, door handles and seats removed by a service workshop.

When an airbag deploys, noise and smoke may occur. This is normal and not dangerous, but it may irritate the occupant's skin. If the irritation persists, consult a doctor.

Danger Children, infants, pregnant women, elderly and frail persons must not ride in the front passenger seat protected by an airbag.

Furthermore, do not use a child seat installed on this seat. In an accident, the impact of the inflating airbag may cause facial injuries or death.

Caution Airbags may deploy while driving if the suspension strikes bumps, objects or curbs. To prevent unintended airbag deployment, drive slowly on uneven surfaces and on roads not intended for vehicle traffic.

Hot gas escaping from deployed airbags may cause burns.
