Deactivating the airbags

If a child seat is to be installed on the front passenger seat, the front passenger airbag must be deactivated. The side and curtain airbags, the seat belt pretensioners and all airbags for the driver's seat remain active.

The front passenger airbags can be deactivated using the switch on the side of the instrument panel (visible when the front passenger door is opened).

Warning When the front passenger seat is occupied by a child, the airbags for that seat must be deactivated.

When the front passenger seat is occupied by an adult, the airbags for that seat must be activated.

Use the ignition key to select the correct switch position:

= front passenger airbags
are deactivated and will not inflate in a collision.

Indicator lightlights
continuously. A child seat may be installed as shown in the table.

= front passenger airbags
are activated. Do not install child seats.

The front passenger airbag will inflate in a collision only when the indicator light is not illuminated..

The airbag status can only be changed while the vehicle is stationary and the ignition is off.

The selected airbag status remains active until it is changed by the user.
