Tow bar fitting
Mechanical device suitable for attaching a trailer, with additional lighting and signalling.

Your vehicle is primarily designed for carrying passengers and luggage, but it can also be used to tow a trailer.
We recommend using genuine CITROËN tow bars and their wiring harnesses, which have been tested and approved during the design of your vehicle, and having this device fitted by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
If fitted outside the CITROËN network, the installation must strictly follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
Towing a trailer places greater stress on the towing vehicle and requires particular attention from the driver.
Driving tips
Load distribution
- Distribute the load in the trailer so that the heaviest items are as close as possible to the axle, and the nose weight approaches the maximum permitted, without exceeding it.
Air density decreases with altitude, reducing engine performance. Reduce the maximum towing capacity by 10% for every 1,000 metres of altitude.
Refer to the "Technical specifications" chapter for the weights and towing capacities for your vehicle.
Crosswind
- Take into account the increased sensitivity to wind.
Cooling
Towing a trailer up a slope increases the coolant temperature.
As the fan is electrically operated, its cooling capacity does not depend on engine speed.
- To reduce engine speed, reduce your speed.
The maximum towing capacity on a prolonged gradient depends on the steepness of the slope and the outside temperature.
In all cases, monitor the coolant temperature.

- If the warning lamp and the STOP lamp come on, stop the vehicle and switch off the engine as soon as possible.
Brakes
Towing a trailer increases braking distance.
To limit brake overheating, particularly on long mountain descents, it is recommended to use engine braking.
Tyres
- Check the tyre pressures of the towing vehicle and the trailer, observing the recommended pressures.
Lighting
- Check the trailer's electrical lighting and signalling.
The rear parking aid will be automatically deactivated when a genuine CITROËN tow bar is used.
