Engine oil level: general information

~1min read

During normal vehicle use, the engine consumes oil needed to lubricate and cool moving parts. For this reason, the oil level may need topping up from time to time between two oil change intervals.

For an engine that has already bedded in, if oil consumption exceeds 0.5 litre per 1,000 km, contact an Approved Dacia Dealer.

Frequency: check the oil level regularly, especially before any long journey. This avoids the risk of engine damage.

If an excessive or repeated drop in level is noticed, go to an Approved Dacia Dealer. To avoid oil splashing, we recommend using a funnel when topping up the oil level or filling the system.

Reading the oil level

Odczyt poziomu oleju

  • Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth;
  • Fully reinsert the dipstick (on vehicles fitted with a dipstick with cap C, fully tighten the cap);
  • Remove the dipstick again;
  • Read the level: it should never fall below the "mini" mark A or exceed the "maxi" mark B.

After reading the level, fully reinsert the dipstick or fully tighten the dipstick cap.

Engine oil level above maximum The level can only be read using the dipstick as described above. If the oil level is above maximum, do not start the engine; ask an Approved Dacia Dealer for assistance. Never exceed maximum level B when topping up the oil: risk of damage to the engine or catalytic converter.
