Cargo Area Features
60/40 Split-Folding Rear Seat (if equipped)
The 60/40 split-folding rear seat provides versatility for carrying cargo. The seatbacks can be folded down easily by pulling the nylon tabs between the seatbacks and cushions. When folded, the seats provide a continuous, nearly flat extension of the cargo floor.
When the seatback is returned to the upright position, make sure it is locked by pulling firmly on the top of the seatback above the seat belt.
- WARNING: Make sure the seatback is securely latched. If the seatback is not securely latched, the seat will not provide proper support for child restraints and/or passengers. An improperly latched seat may result in serious injury.
- The cargo area at the rear of the vehicle (with the rear seatbacks in the locked or folded position) must not be used as a play area by children while the vehicle is moving. They can be seriously injured in a collision. Children must sit and use the proper restraint system.
- To avoid injury, passengers must not ride in the rear cargo area. The rear cargo area is designed for carrying cargo only, not passengers, who must sit in the seats and wear their seat belts.
The weight and position of cargo and passengers can change the vehicle's center of gravity and handling. To avoid loss of control that could result in personal injury, follow these loading guidelines:
- Always place cargo flat on the floor of the cargo area. Place heavier items as low and as far forward as possible.
- Place as much cargo as possible ahead of the rear axle. Excessive weight or improperly placed weight over or behind the rear axle can cause the rear of the vehicle to sway.
- Do not stack luggage or cargo higher than the top of the seatbacks. This can reduce visibility or become a dangerous projectile in a sudden stop or collision.
