Opening and Closing the Liftgate
Opening the Trunk
The trunk can be opened in several ways:
- Power trunk release button on the instrument panel
- Trunk button on the key fob
- Passive entry trunk button
- External release switch located on the underside of the trunk lid lip.
NOTE:
The release function will operate only when the vehicle is unlocked.
When the ignition is in the ON/RUN position, the open trunk symbol is displayed in the instrument cluster to indicate the trunk is open. The odometer display will return after the trunk is closed.
With the ignition off, the open trunk symbol will remain displayed until the trunk is closed.
Power Trunk Release Button
The trunk can be opened from inside the vehicle using the power trunk release button located on the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel.
NOTE:
The transmission must be in PARK before the button will operate.
Key Fob Trunk Release Button
Press the trunk release button on the key fob twice within five seconds to release the trunk.
Passive Entry Button
Press the passive entry trunk button located on the right side of the trunk lid. With a valid passive entry key fob within 1.5 m (5 ft) of the trunk, press the passive entry button to open the trunk.

Closing the Trunk
Place one or both hands on the outer surface of the trunk lid and press the lid down until the trunk latch clicks into place.
NOTE:
Before closing the trunk lid, make sure the key fob is not inside the trunk area. The trunk will latch and then automatically unlock if the key fob is detected; do not allow the key fob to be locked inside the trunk.
