Towing the vehicle
The towing eye supplied with the vehicle is located in the tool compartment under the trim panel in the luggage compartment.
Fitting the towing eyeProceed as follows:
- Release the cover by pressing the tab a (Fig. 55-56) to unhook it;
- Remove the towing eye b from its holder;
- Screw the eye onto the front or rear threaded stud as far as it will go.

NoteBefore towing, turn the ignition key to MAR and then to STOP, without removing it. Removing the key automatically engages the steering lock, making it impossible to steer the vehicle.
NotePlease remember during towing that without the brake servo and electric power steering, a greater force is required on the brake pedal to brake, and on the steering wheel to steer. Do not use elastic ropes for towing and avoid jerky movements. Also check that no vehicle parts are damaged by the towing device during towing. When towing the vehicle, observe the relevant road traffic regulations for both the towing equipment and conduct on the road.
NoteDo not start the engine when towing the vehicle.
NoteBefore screwing in the eye, carefully clean the corresponding threaded socket.
Before towing the vehicle, also make sure that the eye is screwed fully home in the corresponding socket.
