Removal and Installation — Generator Pulley

Removal

   Observe the health and safety precautions.
   Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

   Remove the generator.

   Using a small flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool, insert the tool through the rubber button in the center of the pulley cover and pry the cap off. Discard the cap. If the clutch is good.

   NOTICE: Do not insert anything into the generator fins to prevent the rotor from turning inside the generator. Inserting objects into the generator may damage the generator.

   Using a 17 mm hex socket and an impact wrench, remove the clutch pulley. A couple of short bursts from the impact wrench will remove the clutch pulley.

   

Installation

   Install the pulley and start it by hand.

   NOTICE: Do not insert anything into the generator fins to prevent the rotor from turning inside the generator. Inserting objects into the generator may damage the generator.

   Holding the outer diameter of the clutch pulley, tighten the clutch pulley using a 17 mm hex socket, a torque wrench 75 N·m and an impact wrench for 3-4 seconds. This ensures the correct torque is applied.
   Torque: 55 lb-ft (75 N·m)

   Install a new cap onto the pulley with the rubber button facing inward.

   Install the generator.
