Removal and Installation - Starter

Removal

1. 1
   Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

   Disconnect the battery terminals.
   Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

   Remove the clips and set the coolant hose aside.

   • Disconnect the connector.

   • Disconnect the wiring harness clips and set the wiring harness aside.

   1. Remove the battery terminal cover.

   2. Remove the nut from the starter solenoid battery cable.
      Torque: 106 lb-in (12 N·m)

   3. Remove the nut from the starter solenoid wire.
      Torque: 53 lb-in (6 N·m)

   

6. 6
   • Disconnect the wiring harness clips.

   • Set the wiring harness aside.

   

7. 7
   Remove the starter bracket nuts.
   Torque: 97 lb-in (11 N·m)

   

8. 8
   Remove the starter studs, then remove the starter.
   Torque: 35 lb-ft (47 N·m)

   

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
