Overview
Rear Axle Specifications:
- Twist Beam Axle (torsion-stiff axle)
- Monotube gas-filled shock absorbers with consistent damping characteristics for optimal handling
- The axle suspension uses large rubber bushings for optimum ride comfort.
Function
If compression occurs evenly at both wheels (for example, when a load is placed on the vehicle), the entire axle pivots evenly on the rubber-metal bearings.
If only one wheel is compressed, the cross-member twists (is subjected to torsion) and acts as a stabilizer bar.
This minimizes changes in track and toe.
