The Engine Oil Life System calculates engine oil life based on vehicle use and displays the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message when it is time to change the engine oil and filter.

The oil life system must be reset to 100% only after the oil has been changed.

Resetting the Oil Life System

  1. Display ENGINE OIL LIFE REMAINING in the DIC menu. Refer to Driver Information Center (DIC) (Base and Middle Level) or Driver Information Center (DIC) (Top Level).
  2. Press and holdGMC Terrain. Engine Oil Life Systemfor several seconds while the oil life display is active to reset the Oil Life System.
  3. ENGINE OIL LIFE REMAINING 100% will be displayed when the oil life system has been reset successfully.

The oil life system can also be reset using the following procedure:

  1. Turn the ignition to Service Mode. Refer to Ignition Positions.
  2. Display ENGINE OIL LIFE REMAINING in the DIC menu. Refer to Driver Information Center (DIC) (Base and Middle Level) or Driver Information Center (DIC) (Top Level).
  3. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
  4. If the display changes to 100%, the system has been reset. Refer to Engine Oil Life System.
