Steering Wheel
Electronic Power Steering (EPS)
The system assists in steering the vehicle. If the engine is off or the power steering system fails, you can still steer the vehicle, but more steering effort will be required.
If you notice any change in the steering effort required during normal driving, have the system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
If the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system does not operate normally, the warning light ( ) will illuminate on the instrument cluster. You can still steer the vehicle, but more steering effort will be required. Have your vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.
Information
The following symptoms may occur during normal vehicle operation:
- Steering wheel effort may be high immediately after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. This occurs while the system performs the EPS self-diagnosis. When the diagnosis is complete, the steering wheel will return to its normal condition.
- A clicking sound may be heard from the EPS relay after the ignition switch is turned to the ON or LOCK/OFF position.
- A motor noise may be heard when the vehicle is stopped or moving at low speed.
- An abnormal noise may occur when steering at low temperatures. If the temperature rises, the noise will disappear. This is a normal condition.
- If an EPS malfunction is detected, the warning light will illuminate on the instrument cluster and steering effort may increase. If any of the following symptoms occur, immediately drive the vehicle to a safe location and have it inspected.
Tilt/Telescopic Steering Column
Adjust the steering wheel so that it points toward your chest, not your face. Make sure you can see the warning lights and gauges on the instrument cluster. After adjusting, push and pull the steering wheel up and down to make sure it is locked in position. Always adjust the steering wheel before starting to drive.
WARNING
NEVER adjust the steering wheel while driving. This may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident.

To change the steering wheel tilt angle and height:
1. Pull down the lock release lever (1).
2. Adjust the steering wheel to the desired angle (2) and height (3).
3. Pull up the release lever to lock the steering wheel.
Information
After adjusting, the release lever may sometimes fail to lock the steering wheel. This is not a malfunction. It occurs when the two locking teeth are not properly engaged. In this case, adjust the steering wheel again, then lock the steering wheel.
Horn

To sound the horn, press the area marked with the horn symbol on the steering wheel (see illustration). The horn will only operate when this area is pressed.
NOTICE
Do not strike the horn pad hard to operate the horn, and do not hit it with your fist. Do not press the horn pad with a pointed object.
