[A]: Battery sensor
The battery sensor is deactivated when the battery negative terminal is disconnected for maintenance.
In this case, ISG system operation is restricted by battery sensor deactivation. Therefore, the driver must perform the following procedures to reactivate the battery sensor after reconnecting the battery.
Conditions for Reactivating the Battery Sensor
Turn the ignition switch ON and OFF one time. Park the vehicle for at least 4 hours with the hood closed and all doors closed.
Be extremely careful not to connect accessories (such as navigation and black box) to the vehicle while the engine is OFF. Otherwise, the battery sensor may not be reactivated.
Information
The ISG system may not operate in the following situations.
-- ISG system malfunction.
-- Battery is weak.
-- Brake system vacuum is low. In this case, have the ISG system inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
NOTICE
- Use only an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery for replacement. Otherwise, the ISG system may not operate properly.
- Do not recharge an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery with a general charger. This may damage or explode the Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery.
- Do not remove the battery cover. Battery electrolyte, which is harmful to the human body, may leak.
