Malfunction and Limitations of the Function
Malfunction of the Function

When the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system does not operate properly, the "Check Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist" warning message will appear on the cluster, and the system will turn off automatically; otherwise, the system will be limited. HYUNDAI recommends that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

When the outside rearview mirror warning light does not operate properly, the "Check Side Rearview Mirror Warning Light" warning message will appear in the cluster. We recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Function Disabled

When the radar or sensor behind the rear bumper is covered with foreign matter, such as snow or rain, or when a trailer or carrier is installed, detection performance may be reduced and the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may be temporarily limited or disabled.
If this occurs, the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system will be turned off. The "Radar Blocked" warning message will appear on the cluster.
The system will operate normally once such foreign matter or the trailer, etc. is removed.
If the system does not operate normally after removal, HYUNDAI recommends that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
WARNING
- Even if no warning message appears on the cluster, the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may not operate properly.
- The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may not operate properly in an area (for example: open terrain) where no objects are detected after the engine is started.
CAUTION
Disable the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system when installing a trailer, carrier, etc., or remove the trailer, carrier, etc. before using the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system.
Limitations of the Function
The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may not operate normally, or the system may activate unexpectedly, under the following circumstances:
- When backing out from where trees or grass are overgrown
- When backing out from where the road is wet
- The speed of an approaching vehicle is too fast or too slow
Braking control may not operate. The driver must pay attention in the following situations:
- The vehicle vibrates strongly while driving on a bumpy road, uneven road, or concrete section.
- Driving on a slippery surface due to snow, puddles, ice, etc.
- Tire pressure is low or a tire is damaged.
- The brakes have been modified.
- When the Remote Smart Parking Assist system is operating (if equipped)
CAUTION
For more detailed information on the limitations of the rear corner radar, refer to the "Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)" section in Chapter 7.
WARNING
- Driving near a vehicle or structure
[A]: Structure
The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may be limited when driving near a vehicle or structure, and may not detect an approaching vehicle from the left or right. If this occurs, the system may not warn the driver or control the brakes when necessary.
Always check your surroundings when backing up.
• When the vehicle is in a complex parking area
The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may detect vehicles that are parking or pulling out next to your vehicle (for example: a vehicle driving next to your vehicle, parking or pulling out, or a vehicle approaching the rear of your vehicle while queuing, etc.). If this occurs, the system may warn the driver unnecessarily and control the brakes.
Always check your surroundings when backing up.
• When the vehicle is parked diagonally
[Vehicle]
The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may be limited when backing diagonally, and may not detect a vehicle approaching from the left or right. If this occurs, the system may not warn the driver or control the brakes when necessary.
Always check your surroundings when backing up.
• When the vehicle is on or near a slope
The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may be limited when the vehicle is on or near an uphill or downhill slope, and may not detect a vehicle approaching from the left or right. If this occurs, the system may not warn the driver or control the brakes when necessary.
Always check your surroundings when backing up.
• Entering a parking space where there is a structure
[A]: Structure, [B]: Wall
The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may detect passing vehicles in front of you when reversing into a parking space with a wall or structure at the rear or side area. If this happens, the system may unnecessarily warn the driver and apply the brakes.
Always check your surroundings when backing up.
• When parked behind
The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may detect vehicles passing behind you when reversing into a parking space. If this happens, the system may unnecessarily warn the driver and apply the brakes.
Always check your surroundings when backing up.
WARNING
- When towing a trailer or another vehicle, it is recommended that the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system be turned off for safety reasons.
- The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may not operate normally if it is affected by strong electromagnetic waves.
- The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may not operate for 15 seconds after the vehicle is started or the rear corner radars are initialized.
