Operation of the Function
Warning and Control Function
The rear cross-traffic safety system will warn and control the vehicle depending on the collision risk level: "Collision Warning," "Emergency Braking," and "Stop" vehicle and brake control termination.

Collision Warning
- Warns the driver of an approaching vehicle from the rear left/right of your vehicle. The outside rearview mirror indicator light will flash and a warning will appear on the cluster. At the same time, an audible warning will sound. If the rearview monitor is operating, a warning will also appear on the infotainment system screen.
- The function operates when all of the following conditions are met:
-- Transmission is in R (Reverse)
-- Vehicle speed is below 5 mph (8 km/h)
-- The approaching vehicle is within approximately 82 ft (25 m) from the left and right sides of your vehicle
-- Approaching vehicle speed from the left and right is above 5 km/h
Information
If the operating conditions are met, a warning will be given whenever a vehicle approaches from the left or right side, even if your vehicle speed is 0 km/h.

Emergency Braking
- Warns the driver of an approaching vehicle from the rear left/right of your vehicle. The outside rearview mirror indicator light will flash and an "Emergency Braking" warning message will appear on the cluster.
-- The approaching vehicle is within approximately 5 ft (1.5 m) from the left and right sides of your vehicle
-- Approaching vehicle speed from the left and right is above 5 km/h - Emergency braking assistance will be provided to help prevent a collision with approaching vehicles from the left and right.
WARNING
Brake control is terminated when:
-- The approaching vehicle is outside the detection range
-- The approaching vehicle passes behind your vehicle
-- The approaching vehicle does not approach your vehicle
-- The speed of the approaching vehicle decreases
-- The driver depresses the brake pedal with sufficient force

Vehicle Stop and Brake Control Release
- When the vehicle is stopped due to emergency braking, a "Drive" warning message will appear on the cluster.
- For your safety, the driver must immediately depress the brake pedal and check the surroundings.
- Brake control will be released after the vehicle has been stopped by emergency braking for approximately 2 seconds.
- During emergency braking, system brake control will be automatically canceled when the driver depresses the brake pedal excessively.
WARNING
Observe the following precautions when using the rear cross-traffic safety system:
- For safety, change the settings after parking the vehicle in a safe location.
- If another system warning message is displayed or a warning sound is generated, the rear cross-traffic safety system warning message may not be displayed and the audible warning may not be generated.
- You may not hear the rear cross-traffic safety system warning sound if the surroundings are noisy.
- The rear cross-traffic safety system may not operate if the driver applies the brake pedal to avoid a collision.
- During rear cross-traffic safety operation, the vehicle may suddenly stop, which may injure passengers and cause unsecured objects to move. Always fasten your seat belt and keep it clear of protected objects.
- Even if there is a problem with the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) system, the basic braking performance of the vehicle will operate normally.
- The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system does not work in all situations and cannot avoid all collisions.
- During emergency braking, the braking control function is automatically canceled when the driver excessively depresses the accelerator pedal.
- The driver is responsible for controlling the vehicle. Do not rely solely on the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system. Instead, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce speed or stop the vehicle.
- Never intentionally operate the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system toward people, animals, objects, etc. This may result in serious injury or death.
CAUTION
Brake control may not operate properly depending on the condition of the ESC (Electronic Stability Control). A warning will only be given when:
-- The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) warning lamp is illuminated
-- The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is operating another function
Information
- If the system is assisting you with braking, the driver should be aware that brake assist will end within 2 seconds. The driver should immediately depress the brake pedal and check the surroundings of the vehicle.
- Brake control will end when the driver depresses the brake pedal with sufficient force.
- After shifting the transmission to R (Reverse), brake control will operate once while the vehicle approaches from the left and right.
