Driver Assistance System

Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA)

~2min read

Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist can alert the driver or assist with braking to help reduce the possibility of a collision with a pedestrian or object when backing up.

WARNING

  • ALWAYS check your surroundings to make sure there are no pedestrians or objects before moving the vehicle.
  • Do not rely solely on the system. Failure to do so may result in vehicle damage or personal injury.
  • Some objects may not be detected by the rear ultrasonic sensors due to the distance, size or material of the object, each of which may limit sensor performance.

Detection Sensor

[1]: Rear view camera, [2]: Rear ultrasonic sensors.

Refer to the illustration above for the detailed location of the detection sensors.

CAUTION

Observe the following precautions to maintain optimal performance of the detection sensors:

  • Always keep the rear view camera and rear ultrasonic sensors clean.
  • Do not use cleaners containing acidic or alkaline detergents when cleaning the rear view camera lens. Use only mild soap or a neutral detergent and rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Never disassemble or strike the rear view camera or rear ultrasonic sensor components.
  • Do not apply unnecessary force to the rear view camera or rear ultrasonic sensors. The system may not operate properly if the rear view camera or rear ultrasonic sensor(s) are forcibly moved out of proper alignment. We recommend that the vehicle be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • Do not spray the rear view camera or rear ultrasonic sensors or their surrounding area directly with a high-pressure washer. This may cause the rear view camera or rear ultrasonic sensors to malfunction.
  • The function may not operate correctly if the bumper is damaged, replaced, or repaired.
  • Do not attach items such as bumper stickers or bumper guards near the rear view camera or rear ultrasonic sensors, or paint the bumper. This may adversely affect the performance of the function.
  • The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate normally if strong electromagnetic waves are present.
